Surprising part was that none og them dropped on the ground and leaned to a very high extent. Actually that move was is a well defined technique calcualted on grvity and was was as patent application by Michael Jackson.

What MJ and his crew did was used specially designed shoes, that quickly slid into pegs that rise out of the floor. The rigid anklets that worked like ski boots also helped, supporting Jackson and the dancers at that magic angle. Wathc the video below carefully and you may notice a guy on the right side having a bit of trouble with the shoes.
